What do all of you think about file sharing programs such as KaZaA and Bcc plus plus? Do you use them? Share your experiences and knoledge!

Kaza is in my opinion more trouble than it's worth. I use gnucleus mainly. Also, dc has a lot of stuff, but it's difficult to figure out. Personally, I like one called foldershare, though, you have to be added to libraries by friends.

There will never be another like audiogalaxy again!

agreed. Audio galaxy was the best! Even better than naptster.

The best thing outthere at the moment is DC plusplus. I really dont' think is that hard to work out really, I mean quite simple, you find and join hubs, once in a hub you can either search for what you're looking for or you can brouze people harddrives by clicking/pressing enter on their name on the list. So, I run my own DC hub and you can visit it at ik-hub.net everyone is welcome, only 1 gb of shared stuff needed, oh there are also jaws script for it that can be downloaded from andrelouis.com click on 'offical home of the wwdc network' link and from then on 'downloads' link and there you can find the jaws script and the client it self if you haven't got it yet

The big thing I loved with audiogalaxy aside from no scripts needed was that it was able to resume broken transfers. Now that's something napster didn't do, if the transfer was broken, you lost your file. I say bring back the web style interface!

Yeah, that's true, and I did like that about audio galaxy...I like DC tht also resumes downloads and the other thing I like about DC is that if you download a folder off someone and then they added something to that folder you can simply click on that folder again download direct in to the folder where the stuff already is on your harddrive and DC will download all the new stuff in that place, um, does that make sence? lol

I currently use winMX but I am having a few problems with it. For instance, when I download music, my files sometimes get wiped out. The file name will still be there but the song itself will be completely gone. The other problem I am having is that songs overlap each other which I find extremely annoying. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I am getting really frustrated with winMX. It's really accessible, and it's the first file sharing probram I've ever used. I am looking for a program I can use. I've downloaded nucleus but I haven't used it yet. If any of you have any suggestions I would really appriciate it.

I have no problems with Win MX. Send me a private message or quicknote if you wanna talk about it.

I also use win mx as well, and it's pretty good for me, and it's getting close to the second anaversury of audiogalaxy being shut down by the riaa, that happened june 18, 2002.

A word of warning, stay away from the gnutela clients, mainly bear share, that's the most inaccessible client out there to date, and it puts a butload of spiware on any system it gets installed on.

Also soulseek is another good program as well, so if anyone who doesn't have it and the jaws scripts I've got for it, feel free to add bstephens@navigata.net to your messenger contact list, and I'll send you both the client and jaws scripts!

What I'd really love to see one day is a version of dc++ called dc++sv. You wouldn't need a screen reader, because it would use eloquence.

There was one gnutella client I tried that did have some accessibility via jaws scripts, and that was xolox, but the selection was crap.

The thing I remembered with audiogalaxy was how you were able to tell if a song was blocked or not. If you saw a thing under the track title that said buttons/dish, you were able to get the song, but if it said buttons/filtered_song, it was blocked, but I was able to get around it like alot of others were able to, because any song that was blocked was able to become unblocked by misspelling a song, or putting numbers around it.

Another client to avoid is Morphius, not only does it install a bunch of spiware, it's also very slow even for those with high speed access from what I've been told.

warning! another client you never want to install is KaZaA! sarman networks!. It is an oppened port, believe it or not, it makes your computer bulnerable, even if you have firewall! never try to use it. Good things is that it is the most popular, so it has everything, even spyware! and it was accesible. Due to the spyware problems, I erased it completely from my computer.
